Itinerary
-
Tuesday 23 March:
Arrive in Hong Kong this morning, where you will be met and transferred by charter coach to the Novotel Century Hotel for
a six (6) night stay. In the heart of the Wan Chai entertainment district on Hong Kong Island, this 4 star hotel boasts
superb amenities and is within walking distance to many major shopping complexes, the Hong Kong Stadium and the MTR
underground train system. Once settled into the hotel, join with other tour members as your tour leader takes you on a
walking tour from your hotel, featuring the MTR train and the local Wan Chai area. Later today, gather together for a
few welcome drinks (own cost), and an early dinner with your fellow tour members.
-
Wednesday 24 March:
This morning we may head to watch the New Zealand Sevens Team train (depending on venue and team training schedule).
After training, enjoy a relaxed gathering with the team, take photos, get autographs and discuss the upcoming sevens
tournament. Next take a guided Hong Kong Island Orientation Tour. This will include a journey up to Victoria Peak and
down to Aberdeen Harbour, where sampan boats will take you on a water tour throughout the marina and fishing boats.
Around midday, transfer to Stanley Markets for lunch and then free time to look around the markets. Finally transfer to
Victoria Peak and enjoy the spectacular views across Hong Kong city. Return to the hotel around 5.00pm via the Peak Tram
and MTR where you can relax and freshen up before heading out again this evening to Temple Street Night Markets to barter
for bargains. A full day, but one that will allow you to see and understand much about Hong Kong life!
-
Thursday 25 March:
Plenty of walking this morning, through lower Nathan Road and environs, before enjoying classic Peking Duck for lunch.
The afternoon is free to hit the shops of Langham Place and visit the Ladies Market (or just go where you please). Your
tour leader will be able to provide advice on the best way to maximise your time. This evening is free to sample some of
Hong Kong's vast cuisine and night life.
-
Friday 26 March:
This morning is again free to relax and/or enjoy Hong Kong shops. Around midday travel by launch to Lamma Island, where
you will enjoy a seafood lunch. Once finished, you will have a little time to relax before the trip back to the mainland
and onto Hong Kong Stadium for the opening rounds of the Hong Kong Sevens.
-
Saturday 27 March:
Make your way to the stadium at leisure today. Sevens action runs from approximately 10.00am to 7.30pm and you may wish
to come and go during the day. New Zealand will play twice today. This evening join other tour members for a visit to the
Temple Street Night Market and maybe an optional meal at the unique "Wing Fat Seafood Restaurant".
-
Sunday 28 March:
An early start is required this morning to secure good seats at the stadium. Enjoy a full day of fun, laughter and
excitement as our New Zealand team looks to regain their Hong Kong Sevens title. The game is all about action, and the
best thing about watching Sevens in the modern stadium is that the action is not confined to the pitch. People go to the
Sevens to enjoy themselves and the result is a well behaved but vibrant crowd - having fun, the odd drink or two and
participating in banter with the friendly supporters from other countries. Play runs from approximately 9.45am through to
5.00pm.
-
Monday 29 March:
This morning is free for you to relax and recover from the weekend's activities. This afternoon transfer to the airport
and depart Hong Kong.
