2012 Hong Kong Sevens
Every year the Hong Kong Sevens is a huge hit with New Zealanders living both here and abroad. With its great atmosphere and array of teams this event is not to be missed.Why not get a group together and really make it an unforgettable trip to not only a fantastic event but an amazing destination. After taking out the Hong Kong Sevens in 2011, the boys will be back full force in 2012, so make sure you're there to show your support!
Tickets
Tickets for this event can be hard to come by outside of travel packages in New Zealand. Williment Sports Travel is an official travel agent for this event and we secure an allocation of tickets for this event every year.
Destination
Hong Kong is a bustling city which was once just a collection of fishing villages when claimed by Britain in 1842 following the First Opium War with China. Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997 although not much changed in this well-established city.
Hong Kong has a unique blend of eastern and western influences, with a magnificent harbour and stunning countryside. All of these factors have combined together to make Hong Kong the prime tourist destination in Asia.
While in Hong Kong, why not explore one of the great market places bustling with locals and tourists alike - there truly is something for everyone! Be prepared to get lost in the excitement and chaos that is the local markets with so many great purchases waiting to be discovered - just make sure you are prepared to barter! Our experienced staff will be more then happy to give you ideas on where to go for whatever you're looking for.
Each year, we also provide optional extras that can be added to your package. In 2010, we offered clients the option to head out to Lamma Island for an amazing seafood buffet lunch, and also to make their way over to Macau by ferry to experience what is nicknamed Asia's answer to Las Vegas. With Hong Kong's great position, you can even do a day trip over to China!
Travel
This year we are required to sell our packages with Cathay Pacific flights built into the cost, as they are the naming sponsor of the tournament. If you do have other airline preferences please come through to one of our sevens team to discuss the options.
Once in Hong Kong getting around is easy. Taxis are in abundance and fares are generally very cheap. Our hotels are located within walking distance to and from the stadium following a simple route. Alternatively, the MTR is a fast and convenient public transport system used by locals and tourists alike. With all key entrances/exits clearly sign-posted, the MTR is a cheap and easy mode of transport.
